To unlock each Rank of the Skill above rank 1, you need to complete a challenge. The challenges for the Particle Beam Weapon Systems Ranks are:
- Rank 1: Deal 1000 damage to enemy ships with particle beam weapons.
- Rank 2: Deal 4000 damage to enemy ships with particle beam weapons.
- Rank 3: Deal 10000 damage to enemy ships with particle beam weapons.
